WordCamp Atlanta: Page Builder Showdown

Aaron speaking at wordcamp 2016 atlanta

WordCamp Atlanta was awesome, as usual.  I have the privilege to compare various Page Builders, seven to be exact.  I tend to pick topics of which I know only little about.  It gives me an opportunity to learn something new.

It was amazing to have a full (80+) room of people in there asking questions, taking notes and pictures.  It’s quite humbling to see these people taking notes.

I covered the following page builders:

  1. Beaver Builder
  2. Conductor
  3. Divi Builder
  4. Page Builder by SiteOrigin
  5. Themify Builder
  6. Velocity Page
  7. Visual Composer (WP Bakery)

My overall thought is that every single one of these plugins is written for a reason, to fill in where there is a void.  Yes, there were some plugins that I thought were lacking in features but sometimes clients don’t need 85 options, maybe they just need three options.  The amount of time that a developer spends on this type of plugin is in the hundreds, if not thousands, of hours.  They had some reason to build it and I’m sure it filled the void.

For my needs, Beaver Builder is the best.  Yes, it has a ton of options, but it isn’t shortcode driven (which is a good thing) and I can handle those options.
